Blu-ray Picks for the Week of August 28, 2012
Zombies, explosions, fractured fairytales and pirates; get a peek at this week's new and notable releases.
August 28, 2012 by Rachel Cericola

It’s TV week, people! Of the 10 new releases that we’re highlighting this week, five are installments for popular TV shows. See, there are good things on TV! Well, except for that cheesy SyFy movie that’s featured on slide number 10.

The pick of the week was a tough one, though; there are so many good TV shows to choose from. Yes, TV shows. We were on the fence about picking the freshman season of Showtime’s Homeland. However, this week’s spotlight is going to The Walking Dead: The Complete Second Season.

This incredibly creepy installment of AMC’s original series is based on a comic book and is downright gory for TV. It’s also a good show. Besides that, the option for the limited-edition set really pushed us over the edge. After all, how often do you get a severed head with your Blu-ray purchase?

If you can get through the nightmares, this week does include a few lighter selections. Look for a little comedy, a little music, and a little Aardman animation to plant a few happy thoughts.

Did we miss one of your favorites for the week? Have something to say about one of this week’s new releases? Sound off in the comments below. Otherwise, all of these titles are out now, except where noted. Enjoy!
