Blu-ray Picks for the Week of October 23, 2012
Male strippers, fairies and vampires; get a peek at this week's new and notable releases.
October 23, 2012 | by Rachel Cericola

And… we’re back! Sorry we missed last week’s edition of Blu-ray picks. An illness kept us from reporting on the new releases, but certainly not from watching them. Last week’s notables included Madagascar 3, season five of Mad Men, and Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom.

Now, we’re moving ahead with a ton of mythical and creepy creatures, as well as a few Clone Wars. However, our pick of the week goes to Magic Mike. Steven Soderbergh’s dramedy doesn’t have a great selection of extras. However, this bevy of beefcake was a surprise hit with critics and audiences, raking in $154 million—a nice feat, considering the film’s $7 million budget.

If male strippers aren’t your thing, there’s a nice selection of other films, including a pre-Halloween/pre-election vampire hunt with one of our favorite presidents, the latest season of Star Wars: Clone Wars, and a new adventure for Tinker Bell and her cute fairy friends.

Did we miss one of your favorites for the week? Have something to say about one of this week’s new releases? Sound off in the comments below. Otherwise, all of these titles are out now, except where noted. Enjoy!
