7 Smart Locks That Aren’t As Dumb As You Think

Slide 1 of 7

August

Forget fumbling with keys. The August doesn’t even need you to reach for your smartphone. It uses Bluetooth technology and your portable to actually unlock the door as you approach. It certainly knows your phone, but allows you to also send invites to friends and extend that invitation to a night, a week or indefinitely. The lock uses four AA batteries and doesn’t need to connect to your network, so it’s always on. Currently, the August is available for pre-order, with plans to ship in early 2014. When that happens, it will be compatible with the iPhone and Android devices, but BlackBerry and Windows Phone 8 support is supposed to follow soon.

Price: $199
For More Information: August
