Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close

Jonathan Safran Foer’s book received slightly better reviews than this film adaptation—which is surprising, given that it has Tom Hanks, Sandra Bullock, Max von Sydow, Viola Davis, John Goodman, and Jeffrey Wright. That’s not to say that the 9/11-themed drama didn’t get accolades. It snagged two Oscar nominations, with one going to von Sydow and another as a Best Picture contender.

It didn’t exactly take the box office by storm, either, only raking in $6 million over its $40 million budget. The Blu-ray may win the film a few new fans, however, with a 2.39:1 aspect ratio, a DTS-HD Master Audio track, four behind-the-scenes featurettes, a standard-def DVD and the UltraViolet Digital Copy option.

Rating: PG-13
Runtime: 129 minutes
Total Number of Discs: 1
Studio: Warner Bros.
