In the Land of Blood and Honey

Leggy mega-superstar and humanitarian Angelina Jolie made her directorial debut with this 2011 romantic drama set against the backdrop of the Bosnian War. Goran Kostić and Zana Marjanović are trying to make their love work, despite too many odds to count. The subject matter is heartbreaking, which could have contributed to the film’s limited release and box-office take.

Of course, it’s doesn’t help that the only audio available is a Serbian DTS-HD Master Audio track. Not to worry, though, there are subtitles, along with a 2.35:1 aspect ratio, deleted scenes, a chat with Jolie and actress Vanesa Glodjo, and a making-of featurette. The two-disc set also comes with a standard-def DVD.
