Journey 2: The Mysterious Island

It’s hard to believe that 2008’s Journey to the Center of the Earth did so well that it warranted a sequel. That said, this is a feast for your eyes and ears, leaving your brain to fend for itself. Josh Hutcherson is the only one to return from the first film, but he brings along plenty of starpower, including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Michael Caine, Vanessa Hudgens, Luis Guzmán, and Kristin Davis.

Warner Bros. has released 3D and 2D versions of this Blu-ray. That said, this is the type of movie begging for 3D treatment, and actually makes the film more fun. The release also has a 1.78:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD Master Audio. The most special feature is the 3D, but other extras include deleted scenes, a quickie gag reel and the interactive “Are You Strong Enough to Survive Mysterious Island?.” Besides the 3D disc, the 3-disc set includes a 2D Blu-ray, a standard-def DVD and an UltraViolet Digital Copy.

Rating: PG
Runtime: 94 minutes
Total Number of Discs: 3 (3D version), 2 (2D version)
