The title and photo make it seem like Gerard Butler is going to perform some type of 300-style badassery. However, he’s just a good egg trying to build an orphanage for the children of South Sudan—and actually keep it safe from harm.
Based on the true tale of Sam Childers, this film didn’t do much at the box office. However, the Blu-ray has a sharp 2.40:1 aspect ratio and a good DTS-HD Master Audio track. There’s also a decent amount of features, but nothing too memorable. The biggest one is the 19-minute “Machine Gun Preacher: A Discussion with Marc Forster.” Other than that, there are a few deleted scenes, the film’s trailer, tidbits on the music, a standard-def DVD and a Digital Copy of the movie.
