Newsies: 20th Anniversary Edition

With this musical’s revival currently burning up Broadway, it’s no surprise that Disney is cranking out a 20th anniversary release of this otherwise forgettable film. Well, it’s forgettable except that it stars Batman. Christian Bale headlines the interesting cast, which includes Max Casella (Doogie Howser, M.D.), Bill Pullman, Ann-Margret and Robert Duvall.

Disney restored the film’s 2.35:1 aspect ratio, but only gave this musical a Dolby Digital Surround track. As far as featurettes, don’t expect to see anything about the current hit show. However, this single-disc release does have a commentary for the feature film, storyboards with commentary, a trio of other shorts, and a sing-along feature.

Rating: PG
Runtime: 121 minutes
Total Number of Discs: 1
Studio: Walt Disney Home Entertainment
