The Artist

This little silent film made a ton of noise at this year’s Oscars, snatching up a total of five statues, including one for Best Picture. It’s the story George Valentin (Jean Dujardin), a charismatic movie star forced to confront the arrival of talking pictures. The film also stars Bérénice Bejo, John Goodman, James Cromwell, Missi Pyle, Penelope Ann Miller, and Malcolm McDowell.

The Artist may be set in 1927, but certainly doesn’t look like it. Expect a gorgeous 1.33:1 aspect ratio and a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track. The extras package probably won’t win too many awards, but has plenty to feast on. Look for a making-of featurette, a Q&A with many of the people involved in the movie, bloopers, a piece on Los Angeles, and the four-party feature titled, “The Artisans Behind The Artist.” Also, this single-disc release comes packing an UltraViolet Digital Copy of the movie.
