About two years ago Skype started appearing as a feature on a handful of TVs, but in order to use the Skype video call feature, you had to buy an additional USB camera (Logitech sells one that works with most of those TVs). New TVs from Samsung and soon others, however, include built-in cameras. Not only do these allow you to easily Skype your friends and family, they open possibilities for new uses—apps that record videos for YouTube, games and even facial recognition and gesture control (see more on that on the following page). Of course, not everyone feels comfortable sitting in front of a camera every evening just to watch Smash, but it could result in a lot more material for America’s Funniest Home Videos.
