Between the 1956 original and the 1994 remake, there was director Philip Kaufman’s 1978 adaptation of Jack Finney’s sci-fi classic. It’s a good one, too, with Donald Sutherland and Brooke Adams leading an all-star cast that also includes Jeff Goldblum, Leonard Nimoy, and Veronica Cartwright. If you don’t know the story, you need to get out more—or at least rent/buy more movies. This one might keep you in for a little while, since it has aliens looking to take over the planet via cloning.
The single-disc release comes packing the very unique 2.00:1 aspect ratio, a DTS-HD Master Audio Mono track, and no special features. Zero. Still, it’s a great movie that’s worth a peek once the price drops a little.
