Before the sequel hits theaters in 2013, consider familiarizing yourself with Katniss Everdeen, the 16-year-old super-badass played by Jennifer Lawrence. Based on the best seller of the same name, this mega-hit is filled to the brim with other stars as well, including Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, and Wes Bentley.
The Blu-ray does the $661 million blockbuster justice, with a killer 2.40:1 aspect ratio, a thunderous DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 track, and an UltraViolet Digital Copy of the movie. If that audio is going to keep the kids and everyone in the neighborhood up at night, choose Dolby Digital 2.0 – which the menu says is “optimized for late night listening.” The 2-disc set is actually two Blu-rays, with plenty of special features about the book, the movie, and the process. That second disc is specifically for you super-fans, packing in a full-length doc titled, “The World is Watching: Making The Hunger Games.”
Rating: PG-13
Runtime: 142 minutes
Total Number of Discs: 2
Studio: Lionsgate
Editor’s Note: This title will be released on Saturday, August 18, 2012.
