So is it an Alien prequel or not? It doesn’t really matter. This film has Alien director Ridley Scott helming Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender and Guy Pearce in a fantastic sci-fi adventure written by Damon Lindelof (Lost) and Jon Spaihts. It also has its characters going in search of the origins of mankind on Earth—with disastrous results. Hey, if you want friendly aliens, just click the “back” key on your browser and read the E.T. slide again.
If not, know that Fox is unleashing two versions of this visually stunning film. The 2-disc Blu-ray version has a DVD and a Digital Copy, with the 4-disc “Collector’s Edition” adding in the 3D Blu-ray and an entire 2D Blu-ray filled with extras. Both versions boast a stunning 2.40:1 image and a room-shaking DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 track, as well as an alternate opening and ending, deleted and extended scenes, two audio commentaries, and a few promos. The 4-disc set has most of the goodies, with that extra Blu-ray throwing in an insane amount behind-the-scenes info, promos, screen tests and other shorts, as well as a second-screen app.
