Insteon and SmartLinc
Insteon products send signals over powerline and RF, and the dual-band Insteon LED light ($30) can be controlled by other Insteon products like a motion sensor to turn on automatically. Add the plug-in SmartLinc Hub ($99), and you can have iOS and Android smartphone control, with timers. The SmartLinc Hub serves as a system controller. Add more Insteon LEDs and Insteon devices, and you have a lighting and automation system.
