Hot on the heels of Amazon’s announcement, the tablet’s closest competitor unveiled it’s own “HD” model—two of them, in fact. Both the 7-inch Nook HD and the 9-inch Nook HD+ have an SD card slot and can tap into B&N’s store, as well as Nook Video and Nook Catalog services. Also, if you’re planning to share that tablet with other family members (ha!), you can create personalized Nook Profiles to make it seem more like you’re hoarding. Other features on the 7-incher include a 1440-by-900 resolution, 720p video, an IPS display, a dual-core 1.3GHz high-speed processor and 1GB of RAM. The 9-inch model has a 1920-by-1280 resolution, 1080p video, and a 1.5GHz dual-core processor.
MSRP: Nook HD: $199 (8GB) to $229 (16GB); Nook HD+: $269 (16GB) to $299 (32GB)
