Induction Dynamics

Around for many years as the company’s flagship speaker, the ID1 tower ($15,000/pair in rosewood gloss, $12K in black satin, with custom finishes available) from Induction Dynamics has been given an updated design, which includes a ported front face and separated woofers on the top and bottom to help expand dispersion and sound stage. Fed by McIntosh’s C2500 tube preamplifier and MC452 amplifier, with content from the latest Oppo universal player (and high-resolution tracks on my connected USB drive), the ID1’s offered a nice, balanced sound that wasn’t overly bright or boomy. Heads were bobbing to the Rolling Stones’ high-res cuts like “Sympathy for the Devil” and “Gimme Shelter,” which highlighted the system’s microdetail capabilities as Jonathan Duran of parent company MSE Audio led the demo..
