Acoustically transparent screens are great for hiding speakers behind them, but microperforated screens, with thousands of tiny holes, can sometimes produce a moiré effect of “rippled” images as light reflects off the screen. To eliminate this, some companies use woven fabric screens. SnapAV’s Dragonfly AcoustiWeave screen also comes with a black scrim cloth that is positioned behind the screen to cut down on the light that passes through, while enhancing the contrast. Installing this screen was a bit of a challenge for the custom electronics (CE) pros at Hi-Tech Home in Clovis, Calif. The installers set up the framing for the screen before the stone- and brickwork was done, then hung the screen later.
